The crackdown on money propaganda is putting pressure on Macau's GGR

Macau's casino gross gaming revenue (GGR) is likely to remain negatively affected this month, with mainland and Macau authorities cracking down on unauthorized exchange in and out of Macau's gaming venues, several industry commentators said in comments to GGRAsia.

"It's illegal, but this currency exchange deal is actually a source of funding for gaming activities here," says veteran Macau junket boss Wu Ioheng.

Macau bets are mostly denominated in Hong Kong dollars, with most players from mainland China, a jurisdiction that imposes limits on the amount of mainland money that can be physically transported across the border per trip.

Hoffman Mahoman, vice chairman of Success Universe Group Ltd, an investor in the Ponte 16 casino resort near Macau's inner port, added that the enforcement move would be most affected.

Ma said the "most affected type of gaming customers" due to the crackdown would not be "high net worth or frequent customers to Macau because these kinds of players typically have their own financing channels other than relying on this [illegal exchange] propaganda."

Gaming consultant Ben Li suggested that China's crackdown could also affect some VIPs and the so-called premium public sector. 안전한 카지노사이트

"VIP/premium [players] are likely to be affected as gambling amounts far exceed the limit of being allowed to bring in across the border," he told GGRAsia.

"Some of our workforce, especially those who need funds beyond the daily ATM limit, will also be affected," said Lee, managing partner at IGamiX Management and Consulting.
